The Future of Smart Cities

The Future of Smart Cities

Today about 55% of the world’s population live in cities, and according to United Nations, it is expected that 70% will be living in the cities by 2050, meaning energy usage and emissions will continue to rise. Cities are hubs of cutting-edge technology and human productivity, and they generated more than 80% of global GDP. However, cities create more than 70% of the Earth’s greenhouse emissions with the 25 biggest cities generating more than half of the emissions.

How do cities cope with the rapid, extensive urbanization? How do we transform highly polluted metropolises into green, clean, just, smart, prosperous, and sustainable places to live in? The need for smarter infrastructure such as smarter transport networks and systems, environmentally friendly water treatment facilities, and high energy efficient buildings is urgent.

These are challenging tasks, requiring different fields of expertise such as urban planning, urban design, urban engineering, system analysis, policy making, social science, and entrepreneurship, said Jeffrey Sachs, professor at Columbia University. Interdisciplinary involvement of all these perspectives will help support innovative and lasting solutions towards livable, sustainable, and prosperous metropolitan agglomerations, and universities will play a significant role in innovation. To address urgent challenges that threaten the health and wellbeing of people worldwide, Stanford announced that it is going create its first new school in more than 70 years focusing on climate and sustainability.

Cities are going to look and function differently in 20-30 years. Self-driving electric cars, taxis, and buses, ecofriendly skyscrapers, more space for people than cars, energy production depending on consumption in real-time, smart transportation networks, etc.

So, future cities will be incredibly clean and smart. How will we accomplish this? It starts with today’s middle and high schoolers. Schools around the world must include climate science into their curriculums so the new generation will be educated in the future’s problems. Adults can also help by educating their children about these issues regarding climate change. No matter if you are a student, a teacher, or a parent, there is something you can do to contribute to our future.

Thanks for your posting on this site. From my own experience, periodically softening right up a photograph could possibly provide the wedding photographer with a little an creative flare. More often than not however, the soft blur isn’t exactly what you had under consideration and can often times spoil an otherwise good snapshot, especially if you intend on enlarging this.

Thanks for expressing your ideas. The first thing is that individuals have a solution between government student loan as well as a private student loan where it really is easier to select student loan online debt consolidation than through the federal education loan.

I believe that avoiding highly processed foods would be the first step so that you can lose weight. They might taste good, but prepared foods have got very little nutritional value, making you eat more in order to have enough vitality to get over the day. Should you be constantly ingesting these foods, moving over to cereals and other complex carbohydrates will let you have more power while having less. Interesting blog post.

I’ve learned newer and more effective things via your blog. One other thing I’d like to say is the fact that newer computer system os’s are inclined to allow far more memory for use, but they furthermore demand more memory space simply to operate. If your computer is unable to handle a lot more memory plus the newest application requires that ram increase, it might be the time to buy a new PC. Thanks

One thing I would like to comment on is that weightloss routine fast can be achieved by the appropriate diet and exercise. Your size not simply affects the look, but also the overall quality of life. Self-esteem, depressive disorder, health risks, and also physical skills are damaged in extra weight. It is possible to do everything right whilst still having a gain. If this happens, a medical problem may be the culprit. While excessive food rather than enough exercise are usually accountable, common medical conditions and trusted prescriptions could greatly add to size. Kudos for your post in this article.

Thanks for your post. I would also love to say a health insurance agent also utilizes the benefit of the particular coordinators of the group insurance. The health agent is given a list of benefits looked for by an individual or a group coordinator. What any broker may is find individuals or even coordinators which in turn best fit those demands. Then he provides his ideas and if all sides agree, the actual broker formulates a contract between the 2 parties.
